POSITION SUMMARY
The Control Room Operator (CRO) is responsible for directing plant operators in the safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally compliant operation of the coal fired power Plant, including supercritical boilers, steam turbines, generators, and associated auxiliary equipment and substations in accordance with facility policies, Operations Department Policies, the PPA or as directed by the Power Production Team leader. The CRO is responsible for coordinating and communicating with other maintenance and other department personnel to analyze and resolve problems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates with the FGD and Coal Control Room Operators and directs the boiler, turbine, common facility, EP/ash shift operators to operate all of the generating and supporting equipment and systems, in a safe, professional manner, in accordance with industry standards, environmental restrictions, original equipment manufacturers’ recommendations and facility operating procedures.
- Directs shift operators and coordinates with the FGD and coal CRO to ensure the continuous operation of the generating plant, including all auxiliary equipment in a manner which will comply with environmental requirements, without compromising safety, plant availability and reliability.
- Operates DCS/PLC controls and other systems that are required to control all applicable plant systems during normal plant operations, startup, shut down and emergency operations.
- Assist the Operation shift leader in the preparation of Permits to Work as required.
- Analyze plant operating problems and take necessary steps to restore plant to normal operation or take recommended solutions to the Operation shift leader as appropriate.
- Writes routine daily entries in the control room log.
- Provides on the job training for the Field Operators and participate in scheduled safety meetings and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operation shift leader.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required (mechanical, electrical or other engineering).
- Preferably with actual super or ultra-super critical coal power plant experience as a Control Room Operator or a Local Operator.
- At least 5 years related work experience or at least 1 year as CRO Boiler operator for more than Super Critical Coal Power Plant.
- At least Interpret P&ID and Single line Diagram for Super Critical Coal Power Plant Operation and prefer ability to manage operation activities with HMI in Power plant DCS system. Especially, experience of Siemens or Mitsubishi DCS.
- Possess business level communications skills in English (written and verbal) and be computer literate, able to communicate/discuss any topic in the business environment.
